CODY, Wyo., June 30, 2026  It was a night of firsts at Stampede Park on Monday as the Cody Stampede kicked off.

The Cody/Yellowstone Xtreme Bulls competition has become the traditional way to kick off the Fourth-of-July celebration and this year is no exception. Breaking from the Cody Nite Rodeo, the bull riding featured top athletes from the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA). And, it was a young gun that took the prize.

Brady Turgeon from New River, Arizona, had never been to Cody before Monday. He is in his rookie season in the PRCA and this is a year of new experiences, one that thankfully happened here. Turgeon rode the Frontier Rodeo bull named Larry – a bull he got on for the first time – and scored 92 points. That score earned him one of the biggest checks in his career at $13,043. It couldn’t have come at a better time.

“I’ve been struggling and this is just what I needed,” Turgeon said. “This is huge for my confidence and now I’m more excited than ever to keep going. When I got to Cody and saw all the pine trees around, I loved it. I’ve been to Yellowstone before, but never to Cody. After this win, I’m going to always want to come back.”

The event featured 40 riders and paid $43,475 to the best eight. It was a sold out crowd with more than 4,000 fans in attendance. They also got to see Oklahoma’s Asa Taylor win the steer riding competition and local favorite Kooper Apanashk win the Jr. Bull Riding.

The Cody Stampede competition kicks off tomorrow with a full rodeo performance starting at 8 p.m. on Wednesday night. That will feature bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping and bull riding for the PRCA. The Women’s Professional Rodeo Association will see competitors in the breakaway roping and barrel racing.

Tickets are available for July 1 and July 2 only. Rodeo fans are encouraged to come to the arena early, and take advantage of the free entertainment and food trucks at the arena.

The following are unofficial results from the Cody/Yellowstone Xtreme Bulls, June 30, 2026.
