At Tenn Texas Radio & Media, we stand with Tejas Rodeo Company and every rodeo producer, stock contractor, athlete, ranching family, volunteer, and community working to preserve one of America’s greatest traditions.
Rodeo is not simply an event; it is living history. It represents generations of ranchers, farmers, cowboys, cowgirls, and families who have built communities through hard work, stewardship, faith, perseverance, and respect for both livestock and the land.
The decision by Viator/Tripadvisor to remove rodeos from its platform raises an important conversation that extends far beyond one venue. If additional travel platforms adopt similar policies, millions of domestic and international visitors could lose one of the primary ways they discover authentic Western experiences and rural tourism destinations across America.
As our nation celebrates America’s 250th Anniversary, it is especially meaningful that rodeo is being recognized as part of the official America 250 celebration. The cowboy remains one of the most recognizable symbols of the American spirit, and as America 250 proudly states, “The story of the cowboy is the story of America.”
We believe education must remain at the center of this conversation. Modern rodeo is built upon professional standards, veterinary oversight, animal welfare practices, and generations of livestock stewardship. The men and women involved in rodeo dedicate their lives to the health, safety, and well-being of the animals they care for every day.
Rather than limiting exposure to rodeo, we encourage travel companies, policymakers, media organizations, and the public to visit ranches, attend rodeos, speak with veterinarians, stock contractors, rodeo committees, contestants, and agricultural families to better understand the values and responsibilities that define this industry.
Rodeo contributes billions of dollars annually to local economies, supports thousands of agricultural businesses and family-owned operations, preserves rural traditions, and inspires future generations to appreciate the heritage that helped shape America.
At Tenn Texas Radio & Media, our mission is to educate, inspire, and unite the Western lifestyle. We will continue sharing the stories of the people, animals, communities, and traditions that make rodeo one of America’s greatest cultural treasures.
Together, let us continue promoting understanding through education, preserving our Western heritage, and ensuring that future generations have the opportunity to experience the values, traditions, and spirit that have defined the American West for generations.

Our mission has always been to keep Texas traditions and Western heritage alive through rodeo, education, and authentic experiences that immerse guests in the history, values, and spirit of the American West.
Recently, Viator/Tripadvisor adopted a new animal welfare policy that prohibits the sale of tickets for rodeos, resulting in the removal of all rodeos from its platform, including our Saturday Night Rodeo at Tejas Rodeo Company.
While we respectfully disagree with the removal of rodeos from Viator’s platform, our greatest concern extends beyond this decision. Viator has publicly stated its intention to lead the travel industry on this issue, raising concerns that other online travel agencies could follow suit. If that happens, it could become more difficult for travelers from around the world to discover and experience one of America’s most authentic cultural traditions.
Rodeo is far more than entertainment. It is the Official State Sport of Texas and a living expression of the values that define the American West, including hard work, stewardship, respect for the land and livestock, and a deep sense of community. For generations, it has connected families to the traditions and way of life that continue to shape Texas today.
That is why the timing of this decision is especially significant. As our nation celebrates America’s 250th anniversary, rodeo is being honored on one of our country’s most prominent stages. The official America 250 celebration on the National Mall features a rodeo as part of its programming, recognizing the cowboy as a symbol of the American spirit and honoring the men and women whose grit, determination, and resilience helped shape the American West. As the America 250 organizers said, “The story of the cowboy is the story of America.” We couldn’t agree more.
We hope the travel industry will recognize the important role rodeo plays in preserving and sharing America’s story.
We remain committed to the highest standards of animal care and to preserving the traditions that make Texas and America unique. We believe rodeo is more than an event. It is a living part of our history, our heritage, and our identity that deserves to be celebrated and shared.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support rodeo and help keep these traditions alive.
