Ian Munsick, Cody Johnson Partner Up For Western Ballad “Long Live Cowgirls” – Out This Friday

JANUARY 26, 2022IAN MUNSICK, CODY JOHNSON PARTNER UP FOR WESTERN BALLAD, “LONG LIVE COWGIRLS” – OUT THIS FRIDAY

Wyoming-born Ian Munsick is partnering up with native Texan Cody Johnson for a true country and western ballad. “Long Live Cowgirls” features descriptive, prairie-tinged lyrics Munsick penned alongside Aby Gutierrez and Phil O’Donnell: “Like a paint-colored mustang, she’s fast and she’s wild / stop a runaway freight train with her high-country smile / she’s tough as December, salt-of-the-Earth / make you fall like September, long live cowgirls. The duet, due this Friday, is available HERE to pre-save.

“When I think of modern country and western music, I think of Cody Johnson,” Munsick said. “The way he pays respect to the tradition of the genre yet puts his own stamp on it is what has drawn me to his music for the last 10 years. ‘Long Live Cowgirls’ is a testament to the western way of life and how it’s still thriving today. There’s no one out there who represents that lifestyle better than CoJo.”

THE DUO FIRST TEAMED UP FOR JOHNSON’S HEADLINING TOUR LAST FALL, WHICH WILL CONTINUE INTO 2022. The western-influenced singer / songwriter is known to fans for his independent releases as well as his major label debut, Coyote Cry(listen HERE). Munsick describes the album as a firm handshake of the cowboy and the hippy, the traditional and the contemporary… and everything in between. Born an audiophile and bred a multi-instrumentalist, Munsick co-produced each of the album’s 10“self-penned songs that conjure equal parts epic adventure and down-to-earth wisdom” (American Songwriter). He is currently nominated for four major titles at iHeartRadio’s Rocky Mountain Country Music Awards: Male Vocalist, Song, Album and Entertainer of the Year.

Johnson, meanwhile, wrapped 2021 having released a critically acclaimed, award-winning, feature-length documentary (Dear Rodeo:: The Cody Johnson Story) and two celebrated albums (Human The Double Album and A Cody Johnson Christmas). In just one year, Johnson accumulated nearly one billion streams (with his career total nearing three billion). His current single “’Til You Can’t” is skyrocketing up the country airplay charts, now in the Top 20. His reputation as a must-see live performer and ‘hard-driving entertainer’ (Billboard) continues to grow. IN ADDITION TO HIS ONGOING HEADLINING DATES, FEATURING MUNSICK AS SUPPORT, JOHNSON WILL ALSO HEADLINE THE HOUSTON RODEO BEFORE APPEARING ON LUKE COMBS’ 2022 STADIUM TOUR THIS SUMMER.

ABOUT IAN MUNSICK

Breathing fresh Rocky Mountain air into the Nashville music scene, Ian Munsick is pioneering a new brand of country. The Wyoming-born singer / songwriter’s upbringing was a mix of working the ranch and working crowds. Under the tutelage of their fiddle-playing father, Munsick and his two older brothers grew up playing everything from bluegrass to The Beatles. Incorporating elements across genres, he has now begun to establish himself as a progressive artist with an old soul. Captivated by traditional lyrical truth and the modern soundscape, Munsick followed his ear to Music City.

In 2017 he released a self-titled EP, winning iHeartRadio’s Rocky Mountain Song of the Year for the rootsy “Horses Are Faster” and becoming the only artist who simultaneously qualified two tracks as finalists in the NSAI/CMT songwriting competition. Since then, Munsick has signed a major label record deal with Warner Music Nashville, earned more than 100 million global streams and been named one of Spotify’s inaugural Hot Country Artists to Watch. His debut album Coyote Cry features his mile-high tenor underscoring self-penned songs that conjure equal parts epic adventure and down-to-earth wisdom. The record marks the dawn of western pop-laced country, pulling a thread straight from Chris LeDoux through Post Malone. Munsick hit the road in the fall alongside labelmate Cody Johnson and his own sold-out, headlining dates. He wrapped the year with his Grand Ole Opry debut and is starting 2022 strong as a MusicRow Next Big Thing artist. Fans are finding that with Ian Munsick, western country is reborn.
