UPRA RESPONDS TO STATE FAIR OF TEXAS DECISION TO PAUSE HORSE SHOWS AND RODEOS IN 2026

WILLS POINT, TX — The United Professional Rodeo Association (UPRA) acknowledges the State Fair of Texas’ recent decision to pause horse shows and rodeo events for the 2026 season.

While this marks a change to a beloved tradition, the UPRA expresses its full support for the State Fair of Texas, its leadership, and the western way of life that both organizations proudly promote.

“The State Fair of Texas has provided an incredible platform for showcasing our sport, our talent and our traditions, We respect their decision and remain optimistic that “The Most Texan Place on Earth” with the most Texan Event on Earth, held in the greatest city, will one day return stronger than ever.”

In the meantime, the UPRA Board of Directors is actively exploring new opportunities for the UPRA Finals and working diligently to identify the next host venue. With a membership base that includes some of the most talented contestants, stock contractors, and directors in professional rodeo, the UPRA remains confident in its ability to deliver an exceptional championship event.
