DENVER, Colo. (Jan. 14, 2026) — It all came down to 24 seconds at the Professional Bull Riders Denver Chute-Out at the National Western Stock Show.

Riding a bull for eight seconds proved to be challenging for the majority of the 90 riders at this year’s event. Riding three bulls successfully for eight seconds only happened for one man, Bruno Carvalho from Alvares Florence, Sao Paulo. Carvalho was one of eight bull riders that were successful on the first night of competition Monday, Jan. 12. He spent Tuesday helping his friends and watching the bulls knowing that he would qualify for the second round held on Wednesday Jan. 14.

In the second round that featured 30 riders, he was 86.3 points to be among the top 15 that qualified for the championship finals. In that round, he was up against Double S Bull Company/Cervi’s bull named Smokin Hot where he scored 88.7 points – good enough for a second-place finish in the finals.

The most important thing at the Denver Chute-Out is the total score and that his where he reigned supreme. Carvalho was the only man to ride all three of his bulls for the required eight seconds. He had a total score of 260.8 points to earn the championship. The 25-year-old added $22,632 to his earnings.

Finishing second was another Brazilian, Cassio Dias, who had a total of 179.3 points on two bulls. Dias also won the final round with a 90.4-point effort on Bierema Rodeo Inc./Cooper/Scruggs Bucking Bulls’ Ghost Face.. With his success there he earned a total of $21,873. Nearly $80,000 was paid out at the bull riding which has become a very popular feature of the National Western Stock Show for nearly three decades.

Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and Women’s Professional Rodeo Association action gets underway in the Denver Coliseum on Thursday beginning at 7 p.m.
