FORT WORTH, Texas (January 21, 2026)— Colton Byram of Mound City, Kansas, turned a last minute opportunity into a $30,000 paycheck at Bulls’ Night Out, the $110,000 PRCA Xtreme Bulls event at the129th edition of the Fort Worth Show & Rodeo (FWSSR).

Byram, who didn’t finish last season among the top 40 bull riders who are eligible to compete at Bulls’ Night Out, was drawn as a last-minute replacement for injured fellow Kansan Luke Mast. Byram scored 87 points on Frontier Rodeo’s bull called Misunderstood to finish fourth in the first round on Tuesday night and earn $3,400.

He could not manage to stay aboard Sutton Pro Rodeo’s One Chance for the required eight seconds in round two, but Byram still qualified for the final round in fifth place. He drew United Pro Rodeo’s Top Gun, a bull that had bucked Byram off twice, most recently at the Johnson County Sheriff’s Posse Rodeo in Cleburne last June.

South Dakota’s Mason Moody, the first rider in the final round, scored 88 points on Frontier Rodeo’s Straight Edge to take the lead. The next four cowboys bucked off. Then Byram managed to best Top Gun and edge Moody with a score of 88.5.

Byram knew he would win a substantial check with that ride but had to watch four National Finals Rodeo veterans, including reigning world champion Stetson Wright, to see if he would be the champion. All four came up short of the eight-second buzzer.

He earned $26,600 in the final round. This is the biggest career win for Byram who joined the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) in 2020. His biggest win before this was just under $10,000 at an Xtreme Bulls event in Salinas, California, last summer.
