OKLAHOMA HORSE RACING COMMUNITY MOURNS THE PASSING OF COMMISSION CHAIRMAN JAMES FUSER

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (October 9, 2026) — The Oklahoma horse racing community is mourning the loss of James Fuser, Chairman of the Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission, who passed away Thursday, October 8, 2026.

Fuser dedicated years of public service to supporting and strengthening horse racing throughout Oklahoma. Beginning his tenure as a Commissioner before assuming the role of Chairman, he became known for his thoughtful leadership, professionalism and commitment to the integrity of the sport.

The Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission announced his passing Thursday, recognizing a man whose dedication extended beyond his official responsibilities and into the lives of those who worked alongside him.

A LEGACY OF LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE

Throughout his years of service, Fuser earned the respect of fellow commissioners, industry stakeholders and racing participants. His leadership helped guide the Commission through important opportunities and challenges while maintaining a commitment to the future of Oklahoma horse racing.

“Chairman Fuser was more than a chairman; he was a respected leader, a trusted colleague, and a passionate advocate for the horse racing industry,” said Amanda English, Executive Director of the Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission.

“His dedication, wisdom, and vision helped shape the Commission and strengthen the future of horse racing in our state. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of working alongside him.”

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Fuser was remembered for his kindness, fairness, integrity and genuine concern for the people who make Oklahoma’s horse racing industry possible.
