DENVER, Colo. (Jan. 23, 2026) —Rodeo action at the National Western Stock Show on Friday saw the completion of the final bracket before Saturday’s Semi-Finals.

Wacey Shalla of Arapaho, Oklahoma, competed in bareback riding and bull riding in that bracket showing fans what it takes to be an all-around cowboy. While he wasn’t successful in the bull riding, he made up for it in the bareback riding. At the matinee performance, he had a solid 82.5-point effort on Bailey Pro Rodeo’s horse named Vendetta.

He came back to Friday night’s rodeo excited to get on Warning Shot, another horse owned by Bailey Pro Rodeo. It was the best match up of the rodeo so far and when the judges added up their scores, Shalla had an 89 by his name.

More importantly, he had a total of 171.5 to advance to the Semi-Finals where he will be riding for his first bareback riding title in the Denver Coliseum. He is unlikely to win an all-around title here this year as he only advanced in one event. The reigning all-around world champion Stetson Wright of Beaver, Utah, will be in two events on Saturday giving him the advantage in that race.

Riley Webb from Denton, Texas, won the tie-down roping here in 2023, the first year he won a world championship. He has gone on to win three consecutive gold buckles awarded to the world’s best. Webb showed fans in the Denver Coliseum the consistency to be at the top on Friday. He roped and tied his first calf in 8.1 seconds Friday afternoon. Then he had an 8.2 that evening to have a total time of 16.3 seconds. That gave him the top spot in Bracket 8 and puts him in contention for his second championship at the National Western Stock Show Rodeo.

There are three performances on Saturday, and each one is a separate Semi-Finals. They start at 11 a.m., 3:30 and 8 p.m. The best four competitors from each Semi-Finals will advance to Sunday’s Championship Finals where 12 athletes in every event will be showcased.
