STETSON WRIGHT ADVANCES TO NATIONAL WESTERN STOCK SHOW RODEO FINALS

DENVER, Colo. (Jan. 24, 2026) —Saturday’s rodeos at the National Western Stock Show featured the best from eight brackets of competition. Through three semi-finals performances, there was one contestant that showed fans why he is a 10-time world champion.

Stetson Wright of Beaver, Utah, competed in both of his signature events in the Denver Coliseum Saturday. He was in the saddle bronc riding in Semi-Finals 1 and then came back to Semi-Finals 3 in the bull riding. He had an 80.5-point score in the saddle bronc riding to tie for fourth and fifth place with Canada’s James Perrin. Wright earned the tie breaker based on his performance in the bracket.

On Saturday night, Wright had the high-marked ride in the bull riding at 83 points. He rode Cervi Championship Rodeo’s bull named Bar Fly and the high score also earned him $4,789. He will be a favorite in Sunday’s Championship Finals.

Colorado will be well represented here on Sunday. In the bull riding,  Colorado Kid Mackey from Ignacio and Colten Fritzlan from Rifle both qualified out of Semi-Finals 2. J.D. McCuistion who makes his home in Fort Collins advanced in the tie-down roping in Semi-Finals 1.

Last year, Trey Yates, of Pueblo won the team roping in the Denver Coliseum with South Carolina’s Luke Brown, They advanced out of Semi-Finals 3 and will be defending their title and Yates is hoping for another win in his home state. Semi-Finals 3 also saw barrel racer C.J. Vondette from Rifle making the cut to ride for the 2026 championship here.

Sunday’s rodeo will feature 12 competitors in each event with the highest score or fastest time taking home the lion’s share of the prize money and the National Western Stock Show Rodeo buckle that symbolizes the win. Rodeo action starts in the Denver Coliseum at 2 p.m.
