ROOKIE PHENOM JOHN CRIMBER WINS ROUND 2 AT PBR NAMPA, PRESENTED BY COOPER TIRES, TIES WITH DALTON KASEL FOR NO. 1 SPOT ON WEEKEND LEADERBOARD HEADING INTO CHAMPIONSHIP SATURDAY
NAMPA, Idaho – A rowdy crowd inside the Ford Idaho Center cheered as John Crimber (Decatur, Texas) captured the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Unleash The Beast (UTB) Round 2 win on Friday night in Nampa, Idaho.
After successfully riding Wishful Thinking (Wentz Bucking Bulls /King Rodeo) Thursday night to capture third place in Round 1, the 18-year-old was paired with Cookies & Cream (Nixon Bucking Bulls) on night two in Nampa.
Launching from the chutes as the crowd cheered, Crimber was one of only 11 men out of a field of 36 to record a qualified ride in Round 2. His 89-point ride earned his sixth round win of the 2024 season.
The round win earned the youthful cowboy 28 Unleash The Beast points to regain the No. 2 spot in the standings, but more importantly placed him atop the weekend leaderboard, tied with Dalton Kasel (Muleshoe, Texas) heading into the third and final day in Idaho.

Kasel, who split the Round 1 win on Thursday night with Arizona Ridge Rider Keyshawn Whitehorse (McCracken Spring, Utah) after his 88-point ride aboard Bo Man (D&H Cattle/ Craig Moore), was matched with Fierce’s Dirtnap (Blake Sharp/ UB Bucking Co/ Fierce Firearms) in Round 2.
As he prepared for his matchup on the back of the chutes, the Austin Gamblers’ man, who was the event champion at the 2019 Nampa event, was laser focused. After firing out into the arena in complete control, he was all smiles as soon as his feet hit the dirt and his 88.75-point score was announced.
For his runner-up finish in the round, the 25-year-old Texan earned 18 Unleash The Beast points. After briefly moving into the No. 2 position in the standings following his Round 1 win, he is now back to the No. 3 position in the world.

As the race toward the 2024 world title intensifies and only five events remain after Nampa before the PBR World Finals in Texas (May 9-19), both Crimber and Kasel trail world leader Cassio Dias (Sao F. de Sales, Brazil). Despite coming up short on both Thursday and Friday night in Nampa, Dias still sits 436 points ahead of Crimber and 444.83 ahead of Kasel.
Brady Fielder (Clermont, Queensland, Australia) finished in third place in Round 2.
In the opening round, the Australian cowboy was just short of the 8, bucked off of Sellout (Blake Sharp/ Koe Wetzel/ Cody O’Neil) at 7.16 seconds.
Fielder, who rides for the Texas Rattlers during the separate PBR Camping World Team Series, was paired with Chemist (Bob & Jeri Adams/ D&H Cattle Co) in Round 2. He was successful in the matchup, scoring 87 points.
With his impressive ride, the cowboy collected 17 Unleash The Beast points and remains at No. 11 in the standings.
