DYNAMIC COUNTRY ARTIST AND PRO BASEBALL PLAYER BRYAN RUBY DROPS HIGH-OCTANE NEW SINGLE, “BASEBALL COUNTRY”
NASHVILLE, TN – (March 17, 2023) – Dynamic Country Artist Bryan Ruby has released his latest project, “Baseball Country,” a song close to his heart that afforded him the opportunity to craft a tune based on the two things he knows best, music and baseball. One of country music’s most promising and dynamic new artists, Ruby also incorporated his love of rock and roll into this new, hard-driving single. The new music is available to download and stream at https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/bryanruby/baseball-country.
The song explodes with an opening guitar riff and only gains energy from there. A gritty, rockin’ story of a day on the baseball diamond from start to finish. While the song is autobiographical for Ruby, as both a musician and the sports aspect, it’s written to connect with anyone who has ever walked through the ballpark gates and climbed up to take a seat in the stadium bleachers.
“The past two decades of my life have been on the ballfield,”bryan ruby
“The past two decades of my life have been on the ballfield,” shared Bryan Ruby. “This is the soundtrack to that life – a gritty, rockin’, celebration of our style and spirit at the ballpark.” He went on to say, “Ever since I started playing guitar for my teammates, they have been asking me to write them a walk-up song they can blast over the stadium loudspeakers during the game. This is it.”
“I had a blast writing this ballpark anthem with Ruby. I can’t wait to hear it over the stadium speakers this summer,”chad sellers – co-writer
“I had a blast writing this ballpark anthem with Ruby. I can’t wait to hear it over the stadium speakers this summer,” expressed co-writer, Chad Sellers.
Co-written by Chad Sellers, Shane David Smith and Bryan Ruby, the song is expected to be the perfect kickoff to baseball season and continue as a fan favorite throughout the summer of 2023 and beyond.
Ruby just wrapped a Spring Training tour performing the National Anthem for the Red Sox vs the Dominican Republic World Baseball Classic team as well as singing it for the Baltimore Orioles vs. the Red Sox pre-season game also singing “God Bless America.” He also performed a show on the beach as part of Orioles artists and athletes’ weekend, entertained at two regular shows and sang at a charity fundraiser concert. He is set to hit the road this summer for more shows as well as baseball anthems and special performances.
Ruby wants people to feel a part of the energy and excitement of the ballpark of America’s game. “Baseball Country” is a peek into a baseball player’s life from the moment of stepping off the bus. Teammates can hear the fire of the other players, the excitement of the fans and the band playing the pregame show in the parking lot.
“We hopped off the bus, shook off the dust
Took a little time getting all set up
The grass is mowed, the beer is cold
The parking lot might just overflow
In every ballpark from coast to coast
Get the bats warmed up
And the guitar started
Yeah sounds like, sounds like an American party
It’s in our blood
Let’s get the boys running
We got a little twang, with the speakers bumping
We hit it hard, put on a show
Get your tickets y’all ready to roll
Welcome to Baseball Country”
Produced by Smith Curry, “Baseball Country” boasts an A-list lineup of studio musicians that include, Nick Buda (drums), Tim Marks (bass), Nathan Keeterle (electric guitar), Luke Moseley (keyboard), Smith Curry (steel guitar), Sam Hunter (acoustic guitar) and Mark Lonsway (background vocals). About Bryan Ruby:
Bryan Ruby is a trailblazing professional baseball player and rising country music artist based in Nashville, Tennessee. In September of 2021 he became the only active professional baseball player to come out as gay, and his story was featured in USA Today as well as 100+ media outlets around the world including CBS, Yahoo, Bleacher Report and Teen Vogue.
As a songwriter, Bryan has penned songs that have appeared on the Texas Country Top 50 chart and the iTunes Country Top 25 (#16), and songs he has written have been featured on both Huffington Post and People Magazine. As an artist, he won season 7 of the talent-search competition Nashville Rising Song, and is preparing for the release of his debut EP in 2023.
Also in 2023, Bryan will be the subject of a feature-length documentary directed by award winning filmmaker Clay Westervelt (Life In The Doghouse, Miss You Can Do It), which will focus on his underdog path through the traditionalist worlds of baseball and country music. It will also chronicle the founding of his first-of-its kind charity, Proud To Be In Baseball, which supports and encourages LGBTQ youth in the sport.
A native of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, Bryan grew up “country,” splitting his time between the baseball field, his family’s barbecue restaurant and the local country radio station (92.5 WXTU), where he worked as an intern. He then took his two loves to Vassar College where he studied on a vocal music scholarship and captained the baseball team to First Team All-Conference honors.
In college, Ruby won a $5,000 songwriting prize and caught the attention of NYC-based producer and sound engineer Chris Connors (John Legend, Kanye West, NEED2BREATHE). The two collaborated on several projects including commercial music for the New England Sports Network.
Bryan relocated to Nashville in 2019, and in-between baseball seasons has developed an impressive network of co-writers and collaborators. To date he has 12+ professional cuts and has performed the National Anthem at several major events, including for the LA Dodgers. He has worked with several major influencers in support of the Sports Equality Foundation and is becoming a respected voice in the baseball, country music, and LGBTQ+ communities.
More than anything, Bryan hopes to write music that “speaks to kids who feel like he did at 14,” when his love for baseball and country music seemed at odds with the secrets he kept hidden away. “Baseball and country music are woven into the fabric of America; I just want to make sure that anyone who loves them like I do feels safe and welcome there.”
